Finally done! It’s Bowsette’s 3rd anniversary so I wanted to try something special with a full comic chapter. Enjoy!
I’m looking forward to going back to textless comics after all these word bubbles.

Life is Strange ios Photo Mode

I disagree that periods *aren’t* gross, but they’re also no more gross than other bodily fluids and waste like urine, feces and vomit. Sometimes life is gross and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. If you treat periods any differently from the above then that’s a problem and a double standard.

some people have responded to this saying “period blood is as sanitary as venous blood” which, yes is true, but you still wouldn’t want to sit in it on the bus or something, ESPECIALLY since blood-borne illnesses could still be transferred this way. Also, same with urine, while it is “sterile” inside of your body, the openings of your body are not! Once it leaves your body it has already been contaminated by the germs and bacteria around your genitals. The whole point is that, bodies are kinda gross, and that’s ok. Having an accident or a bleed-through happens and it’s nothing to be ashamed of, but it also isn’t a pleasant experience for anyone involved and thats! okay!

The moment period blood becomes this “sacred, holy substance”, that’s when you get into misogynist, new-age trad bullshit that’s usually also ableist and transphobic.

Period blood is just blood. If someone next to you on the subway started bleeding, sure, you might get squeamish, but you’d want to help them right? Same with a bleed-through.

It’s okay to be concerned about the hygiene of period blood, because after all, it’s bodily fluids. It’s just not okay to treat people who menstruate like they’re dirty or shameful. You wouldn’t treat someone with a nosebleed like that, right?

Just….stop treating period blood like it’s different, whether it’s treating it like it’s shameful or sacred. Both stigmatize menstruation and lead to harm.

I think this piece of dialogue with David tends to be really overlooked.

It’s such a strange thing and misogynistic thing to say. The topic of women had nothing to do with the conversation, but he still felt the need to bring their gender up and imply that “sticking together” is the reason they’re attacking him. Not the weird files of girls he keeps in the garage or the security cameras he unknowingly installed in the home.

I view this line as important since it could expand on why Chloe not listening to him gets under his skin so badly and why he feels it’s his right to have a level of control over her.

For such a short piece of dialogue, this sticks out to me and gives me a ton of red flags. It’s never been a good thing when all women are generalized, especially during a heated argument when someone’s acting like that’s the real reason they’re facing consequences for their actions.

I’m genuinely curious about how people’s opinions have changed on Life Is Strange for people who played when they were younger. I played the game for the first time at age fourteen, and I’m nineteen now with very different takes!

Younger me thought Joyce was a great Mom, older me thinks at minimum she was emotionally neglectful. Younger me HATED the sacrifice Chloe ending and was furious anyone would choose it, older me has come to respect the story it tells and I actually find my own enjoyment out of it now even though I still prefer saving Chloe. Younger me was strictly a Pricefield shipper, older me has become a multishipper who loves Marshfield and Amberprice in equal amounts to Pricefield.

A few of my choices have changed as well! I used not to warn Victoria because I didn’t want her to get kidnaped, and while I still don’t want her to get taken, I’ve decided that it’s out of character for how I play Max not to tell her. I used to not shoot Frank because I thought it was too violent, but now I do because the older I get the weirder I find his character. I used to not take Kate’s call because I didn’t want to bail on Chloe after five years, but older me feels like Chloe can wait and at that exact moment Kate needs her more.

Anyway, sorry for the rambling, but my opinions about the game have changed a lot over time and it’s interesting to look back on. Feel free to tell me in the tags, replies, or inbox opinions you’ve had about LIS that changed over time! I like hearing about people’s thought process with choice based games and how they shift.

What changed your mind about the ending where you sacrifice Chloe?

I think I just got older and started to experience loss more frequently, which has made me much more fond of the sacrifice Chloe ending.

A game going, “These two characters’ time together was short, but not at all meaningless because at least one of them will always have the memories of the other.” is beautiful and a message that brings me to tears just thinking about it.

I’ll always be a bae over bay person, but I’ve come to find bittersweet comfort in the story the sacrifice Chloe ending tells. It’s tragic, but so is life sometimes.

ichoosebaebcimgay:

So many things to talk about during this moment of calm!

A: Max sits down at the booth where she first told Chloe about her power, and I don’t think that’s a coincidence on her end. She can’t be with Chloe during this scene, so she seeks out an object that reminds her of their time together for comfort. It’s a way for them to be together even when they’re apart.

B: This is where Max fully accepts that she can’t change everything. She realizes that she wasn’t given this power to fix things because she never wanted to be in that position in the first place. Her jumping out to save Chloe was a reflex, not a moment where she thought, “Now I’m going to get time travel powers.” Her rewind just happened and wasn’t an active choice on her end. Now she sees she’ll either have to live with that or go back and erase that from happening.

C: Max saying she can stop Chloe from dying for the final time makes me weep because of the double meaning. Either this is very literal, and Max can achieve her goal of saving Chloe, or it’s the last time she’ll save her because she has to let her die in the bathroom. Either way, I think deep down, Max knew her answer at this point because of this very certain dialogue.

People keep talking about how much David loves Chloe and how much he cares about her. Do you believe that David loved Chloe or cared about her?

pizzafreaak pizzafreaak Said:

arcadiabaytornado:

I do think he cares about her. HOWEVER (and this is a HUGE however.) that doesn’t at all justify the way he treats her.

I say he cares about her at least a little because of what we’re shown in the game. We find a sweet birthday card David was going to give Chloe in his garage, but he either backed out, or Chloe understandably returned it.

Then we have his reaction to learning Chloe died if you tell David the truth in the dark room. He takes it so hard he ends up killing Jefferson and sobbing on the floor. That’s not a reaction you have if you don’t care about someone.

BUT that doesn’t make the way he treats Chloe okay. He’s still an invasive and abusive figure in her life, regardless of whether he cares about her or not. There’s no excuse for how he talks and behaves around her, and just because he cares doesn’t mean he gets to hit his family members who never wanted him in their life to begin with. That would be like lighting someone’s house on fire and saying, “Oh, but I like the owner, so it’s fine.” Like…no, it’s not fine regardless of how you feel about them.

I think David’s enough of a complex character to care about certain people, but his actions are still incredibly messed up. I prefer him far away from Chloe, and would like him to stay that way. So considering all of that this isn’t at in any way a David apologist post, I just think his character has layers.

ichoosebaebcimgay:

I often think about how Max’s Facebook profile is filled with hateful messages if Kate jumps.

No one learns anything at all from what happened with Kate. Max is already dealing with the trauma of being unable to save her, and these hateful comments could easily have pushed her over the edge if she were in a worse mental state.

If she had done something to herself, I’m sure everyone at Blackwell would’ve been “shocked” and “devested” by her loss. Just as they were with Kate. It’s also good commentary that people give Max shit online, but everyone Max speaks with in person is more worried about whether she’s okay.

Also, Victoria’s audacity to comment about Max “getting a selfie out of it.” when her video helped push Kate to the roof makes me enraged. I could see her projecting onto Max since we see her filming Kate’s death, but that doesn’t make it okay.
